Le lunate ou lunatum est un petit os de la mains en forme de demilune. J’ai choisi ce mot parce qu’il évoque la Lune surtout, mais aussi parce qu’en prenant un nom latin directement dans un livre d’anatomie de la main, je fais réference à l’usage extensif que je fais de cette partie du corps avec mes multiples passions artisanales, et j’honore le choix de carrière de mon partenaire de vie (il reconstruit des mains, entre autre).
Le mot witchcraft est probablement mon mot préféré, puisqu’il allie le mot sorcière et artisant ensemble. Malheureusement le français n’a pas d’équivalent.
Le terme society désigne l’aspect d’appartenance à un groupe qui ont les mêmes intérêts, buts et idéaux, en étant libre de la contraite de la localité ou d’un membership.
The lunatum is a bone that is kind of moon-shaped in the hand\wrist. I chose that word to accompany my favorite english word (witchcraft) because I am first of all a craftster, always using my hands to knit, sew, cook and draw. I am very much a child of the Moon (I’m a cancer, after all) and using a medical term honors my lifepartner’s curiosity and career choice (he puts hands back together, amongst other things).
I chose the term society over club, association or compagny because the term refers to people having the same interests and working toward the same goals, which is free from being locality-based and doesn’t need any subscription to belong.
As for my little self, I’m a selfthaught witch, a homeschooling parent and a firm believer in human rights.
